Biography

My name is Gerald Pasquier, I am a lawyer specialised in the field of Banking and Financial Law, with a focus on Hedge Funds regulation and Derivatives. I practiced the law in a number of jurisdictions (Luxembourg, Ontario, Hong Kong and France), which allowed me to take up the challenge of working with various legal systems, clients, cultures and languages.

I practiced in house in the Hedge Funds team of a prominent asset management company in Paris before establishing my career in Hong Kong (I have been living here for more than 3 years, and enjoy it more and more), where I worked at a reputable French private practice. As an (innocent ?) victim of the “worst crisis since 1929“, I am looking for a position in a private practice or the legal department of a financial institution.

I am a Member of the Paris Bar, and I am registered as a Foreign Lawyer in Hong Kong. I hold a LL.M in Banking and Financial Law (University of Strasbourg, 1st class honours), and I studied in Japan for one year. I am currently preparing my admission to practise in England and Wales.

As a part-time academic, I run seminars on the practice of Hedge Funds Law at the University of Strasbourg in France, and on the documentation of M&A transactions at the French Bar School. I am also the author of legal articles published in renowned publications, I act as a moderator and speaker in business conferences.
